"I dream of a city"
After the Trojan War ends, Queen Hecuba and the surviving women from Troy are left on the beach with the cargo, their fates decided for them, forced to leave their home in ruins behind them.
Ellen McLaughlin's adaptation of The Trojan Women is a poetic translation of the original Greek anti-war play by Euripides. Written in 1995 as a response to the Bosnian War, this adaptation demonstrates how this story will remain a cornerstone of theatrical examination of the effects of war and displacement of a community, as well as the struggle of refugees.
This production is sponsored in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council.
