Studio 506 presents
a staged reading
Adapted by Sean Graney
Direction by Kaitlyn Crockett
May 27, 2017
Sean Graney's adaptation of ROMEO JULIET is a retelling of the classic tale through a modern lens. Set during a rebellion between the people and their government forces, this adaptation sheds new light onto the story of two young people fighting for love. A younger generation fighting against burdens set upon them by those in power. Moments of compassion are fleeting but important.
ROMEO JULIET asks how we can make the world a better place - MILL CITY GROWS is a wonderful organization that does just that. Thanks to MCG, more people have access to food and sustainability. This production would not have happened without their help, and we extend our utmost gratitude to them.
This staged reading took place on May 27, 2017 with two performances at the Mill City Grows' Eagle Park Community Garden in Centralville of Lowell. Bringing community gardening + a 90 minute adaptation to Shakespeare in the Park, all while supporting an incredible organization that helps the community made for some truly spectacular performances outside on a sunny day.
